Location of Serial Numbers on Engines Missing the Metal Data Tag      (added July 2006)

The serial number of Waukesha engine’s are very important. It is possible to ascertain the exact model number, date of manufacture, parts listing when the engine was assembled at the factory, checking the service history of a particular engine, among other things. After periods of use, nameplates may be lost or defaced to such an extent that it becomes impossible to determine the engine serial number from them. It has been Waukesha’s practice to stamp the serial number someplace on the crankcase in addition to listing it on the metal name plate. Below is a chart indicating the serial number location stamped on the crankcase of many popular engine models.
